Scope of these terms

By using Nettobar (“the website”), you accept these terms of use in full. If you disagree with any part of them, please do not use the website. The operator reserves the right to amend these terms at any time; changes take effect once they are published on this page.

What Nettobar is

Nettobar is a free, purely informational online tool. It provides gross-to-net salary calculators for Austria — working out the approximate net salary from the gross after social insurance (health, pension and unemployment insurance) and income tax (Lohnsteuer) are deducted, the effect of the special payments (the 13th and 14th salary), and reference figures for social insurance, income tax and collective-agreement minimum wages. The website is not registered as a provider of financial, accounting or legal services.

The calculators run on the rates in force, taken from named primary sources (as of jul 2026). They produce estimates, and their purpose is to make it clear how an Austrian payslip is built and how the tool works.

What Nettobar is not

Nettobar is no substitute for advice from a tax adviser (Steuerberater), for the work of a payroll office (Personalverrechnung), or for information from your competent tax office (Finanzamt).

In particular, the website is not:

• an official tool of the Federal Ministry of Finance or of a tax office,
• a payroll or accounting service,
• a source of legal or tax advice,
• a guarantee that the result is correct in your specific situation.

For binding calculations and your employee tax assessment (Arbeitnehmerveranlagung), please turn to the competent tax office or to a licensed tax adviser.

Estimates, not official amounts

The figures shown are taken from named primary sources and cited where they appear. If a rule changed recently it may not be reflected here yet, and none of them has been through our final sign-off. For an official or tax decision, the cited source or your tax office is the binding one. No model declares a rate correct on its own.

Permitted use

You undertake to use the website in accordance with applicable law and, in particular, to refrain from:

• accessing, or attempting to access, parts of the website that are not publicly available,
• deploying automated scripts, bots or scrapers that place a load on the server or disrupt the normal operation of the website,
• reproducing, distributing or commercially exploiting the calculators and content without prior consent,
• using the website in a way that could harm other users or third parties.

Disclaimer of liability

The website is provided “as is” (as-is), without any express or implied warranty as to the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of the information. Because the results are estimates, they may differ from your actual payslip; tax and employment-law rules also change, and individual situations call for a separate assessment that a general calculator cannot reproduce.

You use the website at your own responsibility. The operator is not liable for direct, indirect or consequential damage arising from the use or the inability to use the website, nor for decisions taken on the basis of the results.

Before any significant financial decision — for example concluding an employment contract, relocating to Austria or filing your tax assessment — we recommend consulting a licensed professional in the tax or payroll field.

Intellectual property

All content on the website (texts, calculators, graphics, methodology) is protected by copyright and by other applicable intellectual-property rights. Personal, non-commercial use is permitted without any special consent.

Any commercial use, the embedding of the calculators into another website, or the mass extraction of content requires prior written consent. Please contact us for this at info@desymphony.com.

Advertising and third-party content

The website currently shows no third-party advertising and sets no advertising or analytics cookies. In future it may display third-party advertising or partner links; such content will be clearly marked as advertising. The operator does not control the content of third-party advertising and is not liable for its accuracy or reliability. You will find the details on data protection in the privacy policy and in the cookie information.

Links to third-party websites

The website may contain links to external websites (for example those of the Federal Ministry of Finance, of the Austrian social-insurance institutions or of Statistics Austria). The operator does not control the content of external websites and accepts no responsibility for their terms of use, their data-protection practices or their availability.

Changes to these terms

The operator reserves the right to amend these terms at any time. Material changes are marked with the date of the last update and, where it makes sense, announced by a notice on the website. By continuing to use the website after a change, you confirm that you accept the new terms.

Applicable law and place of jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Austrian law. In the event of a dispute arising from the use of the website, the parties will first seek an amicable settlement; if that is not possible, the competent courts at the operator’s registered seat have jurisdiction, unless mandatory law — in particular the consumer-protection rules on jurisdiction — prescribes another place of jurisdiction.
